Sims 3 Load Times
I recently purchased The Sims 3 starter pack in the Origin Humble Bundle and successfully downloaded it onto my origin account. However, when I click install, the installshield wizard appears for a second and then disappears. Phoenix arizona gambling casinos. Every time, it just opens up the install and closes straight away with the Sims 3 in Origin returning to the 'install. Grimsoul has additional information that can help you to clear the cache every time you start The Sims 3: I keep getting little bugs like the consignment shop not working, missing texture file on the drafting board and find that I have to delete the cache file regularly to to fix them.

Sims 3 Load Times
- edited July 2014Hi! So I have a problem with long loading times. It takes really long to load up a new game! 12-15 minutes at the most. I do have a lot of custom content and mods. 12.3 GB to be exact. But I don't really think that is the problem.
So I have delete cache files and files in the dcbackup folder. No difference. I can't have the sims 3 in the background loading or else it takes even LONGER.
I am really tired of the long loading times and I want to find a fix for it.
Oh and does anyone else have this problem? I really want to know .
If you are starting a new game, I'd consider that an unusually long loading time, although that much custom content can make a difference. If you are loading a world/family that you've been playing for some time, the loading time can get longer and longer because your saved game file gets larger and larger as you play. I never had one take 12-15 minutes, but I rarely play beyond a second generation; I get bored and start something new.
Not logging in through the launcher can help. Turning off memories in the options menu can help the files not get so big. There's a tool called s3pe that can be used to edit out memory photos that clog the saved files, but I wouldn't recommend that unless you consider yourself an 'advanced' user. - edited July 20140
- edited July 2014Could be your computer specs. Post a dxdiag. My crappier computers have a longer load time, but my nicer ones? Like 30 seconds-3 minutes, depending on the load

I am laughing out of envy right now. My game now takes 10-20 minutes to fully load which I consider great. I deleted the DCBackup files and most of my MTS mods and then uninstalled about 70% of the lots I had downloaded and installed. And I moved most of my save games to my desktop.
Before I did all of that my game was taking 1 1/2 - 2 hours to load.
Be grateful for what you have! - edited July 2014
I have a lot of CC, too. I know you say you don't think it's the 12.3 GB of it, but that sounds like a pretty massive amount of individual files to me. I tried merging packages, and it REALLY DID help. The game scared me with how quickly it loaded.. I was certain I'd get into the game, and none of my CC would be there or I'd done something wrong.Hi! Be careful with types merged and keep a backup of your CC if you go that route.
The other thing that helped? Strangely enough, deleting a lot of my old saves. I'm not sure if that was because it cleared up HD space or if it was just a lot of families to load. I always choose 'Save as..' with the game paused too so that the save files aren't overwriting, but always creating a new file. This stopped the memory issues I was having and save crashing. I really think this helped, too. - edited July 2014Thanks for the helpful replies! I am glad that it doesn't take 1-2 hours! If it took that long, I minus well get a new computer!
I'll definitely try merging some cc. But that 12.3 gb is just package files which I heard help the game load faster.. Strange. I'll probably delete a gb or 2.
I will also delete some of my 2 saves. xD.
Probably the one I never play on. - edited July 2014Just as a test, you might try removing 1/2 to 3/4 of your cc, clear caches, and see how long startup takes. I have much less cc than you do but it is several GBs and my 5th generation legacy game takes around 10 mins to startup. A new game starts up in almost no time.

Ok! I'll see if that helps too. I am currently going through all my cc to find duplicates, bad cc, or empty files with delphy's dashboard. Then I am going to delete some retextures.. I have many. - edited July 2014Phew~ ONLY 15 minutes to load your game?
You must have a super powerful rig there! :P0 - edited July 2014My main game can take 20 minutes or more to load, and I'm still on the first and second generation. Always 'save as', and delete cache files, but do have a ridiculous amount of CC, plus most of the store.
- edited July 2014Wow, I've found this thread very interesting. I have an older gaming computer that I bought with really high specs so it would last a long time (and it has), but recently I've been thinking I should get a new one because my current TS3 family is taking 3-5 minutes to load. Heh. Guess I bought pretty good back in the day. Granted, I don't have a lot of cc, but still .. these load times are mind-boggling to me.
- edited July 2014I've had a few games take just under 5 minutes to load and it was before I turned automatic memories off and that was in Bridgeport.I had Sunset Valley load in a minute and it's an overcrowded world to start with.My main game is in it's second winter in Winfield and it takes about 45 seconds to load that one up and it's a bigger world that starts off empty in a brand new game.
I started a game in Sunset Valley recently to run an experiment to see if I could switch households with a pregnant sim's pregnancy paused without it being auto-unpaused and found out that I'd actually have to pay very close attention to the pregnant sims to make sure to unpause the pregnancy when it needed to be unpaused. That game did take longer to load because it was taking 90 seconds to load though it would slow down over time.0 - edited July 2014Thank you everyone for the replies! Oh and yes my computer is very large and strong. It was made for. well gaming! I will try all the suggestions! Also I will try deleting some cc lol.

Whenever i save the Sims 3 it takes forever. I just wanted to make sure that while i was gone, if the game crashed, it would be fine. I came back about an hour later and it was STILL LOADING!!!! Anyone else have this problem? It's crazy!!! - edited November 2016
When the game loads forever for me that's a sign the save somehow got corrupted. You can tell something went wrong when you go to desktop and the music of the game continues. I just quit the game via ctrl-alt-delete when that happens and start all over again.Hi! So I have a problem with long loading times. Definitely mind boggling! I think I would have given up on the game if I had such load times. Thank heavens for no cc and an ssdWow, I've found this thread very interesting. But I don't have any CC only about 15 MB of mods.
- Something else that hasn't been mentioned yet and helps me is to limit the number of files in the saves folder and the screenshots folder and to keep the downloads folder free of .Sims3Pack files. Move them out of there to a safe place as soon as they are installed.

Sorry for editing my comments frequently, in most cases I'm doing this due language issues (english isn't my native language, but I'm using english, because most used by people, with who I want to communicate). - Even my 'cruddy' HP only take 5 minutes to load and about a minute to save! An hour to load would drive me insane..3
- I get around 5-10 mins to load on my large save but o haven't actually counted.
Saves take up to 10 mins. More than that I start rocking backwards and forwards convinced a Save Error 12 is going to jump out and bite me0 - edited November 2016A Save or Save As really shouldn't take much longer than half the loadup time unless travel or a move to world within the same game (Traveler mod) have happened since the last one. Even half can feel like it takes too long of course, but if it's much longer I would think some file cleanup is in order -- Save Cleaner or the equivalent perhaps to reduce file size, play offline (not logged in at the Launcher level or in-game) if that can be tolerated, keep Scrapbook Memories turned off or use a mod to control them.
Also for those not averse to using mods, NRaas Overwatch, ErrorTrap, and Traffic to help keep things cleaner ongoing and a MasterController Reset Everything run from City Hall can work wonders every 6-8 sim weeks or so.
NRaas has moved!
Our new site is at http://nraas.net - I just timed mine out of interest.. 43 seconds to get to the main menu and then, spookily, 43 seconds to get into my game. It is a new game though.
- I would definitely be paring down on CC and merging it, then see if its still taking as long.
SAVE your mods folder somewhere else though, and then merge, THEN if something messes up you can put back the old mods folder.Ridiculous Time of Layla and Harris - Wishacy (PG)
